On April 17, 1952, President Harry S. Truman signed a bill proclaiming the National Day of Prayer into law. It is held on the first Thursday in May. The National Day of Prayer is a day designated by the United States Congress as a day when all Americans regardless of faith are asked to come together and pray. Furthermore, the Bible says, "...always pray and NOT give up." (Luke 18:1). You will pray to Him (God), and He will hear you,.... (Job 22:27). This is what the Lord says,...'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know'. (Jeremiah 33:2-3).
